The launch ride for the 2012 Brompton World Championships was held a few weeks ago in Manchester. I would have loved to have gone to this but couldn't make it. I thought that this was going to be it and that there wouldn't be a factory ride as there was last year...but I was wrong.
Last year I went on my first Brompton Factory ride and loved it! (You can read about it in a past blog entry). On Monday I found out that I had definitely got a place. I think I was already confirmed for this but it was a lovely feeling to have it all officially ratified.
I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. I am so looking forward to it! One of the highlights - there are many - is riding with 100 other Brompton bicycles in London. There really is something quite empowering about the whole thing. It is great to meet lots of other Bromptonians and see the look on their faces and those of muggles (those without a Brompton) who look on in wonderment!
Brompton really do need to be commented for putting this on. It must cost
them a tidy sum. Yes it is a fantastic marketing tool but I genuinely believe this is not the primary reason for them putting on an event like this. What other manufacturer does anything like this?
I cannot wait until Saturday. I could not care less about what the weather will be like as I know I will love it regardless. I will try and take copious amounts of photographs and may even bring the GoPro for video footage. Luckily I also have a waterproof camera - just in case.
