Day #16 - Taking my mind off whether in/out of BWC 2016

Wanting to go for a walk with Mrs Orange and the Orangettes but looking for something unusual and different we all agreed that it would be Kensal Green Cemetery.

This Cemetery has been a favourite location of mine for many years. For me it is perhaps the finest of the great London cemeteries and in my humble opinion, has the best Victorian grave memorials in the country. It is also the location where my mum's funeral was held last year - so it has taken on a greater significance for me.

I didn't have my Brompton with me today but thoughts of my mum did make me think about it. On many a ride I would often leave my car at my parents house, get my Brompton out and have a chat and a cup of tea an hour or so before I had to leave.

My mum in particular used to announce, 'you're joking surely!?' or 'you're crazy! when I told her that I would be cycling 40, 50 , 60 or over 100 mile. The Brompton World Championships was a particular favourite for my mum as I would turn up in full racing attire. She pretended to be shocked at the brightness and garishness of my outfit but secretly loved it.

My mum used to say that she would have loved to have had a Brompton when she was younger but it might not have been orange and might have been as bright a red as possible.
